Confidentiality


Your privacy is important to you and will be important to your mental health provider. All members of the North Carolina Psychological Association subscribe to a Code of Ethics that requires strict efforts to maintain client confidentiality. Legal responsibilities for maintaining confidentiality vary by state. The few exceptions to preserving confidentiality are related to child abuse and a danger of violence to yourself or others. You are encouraged to discuss this with your psychologist at any time before, during or following treatment.
